You only need to wait for any anesthetic to wear off prior to eating, so that you don’t accidentally bite your lip, cheek or tongue. Postoperative sensitivity is rare unless the filling is large, deep or is hitting too soon.

A deep filling that is close to the pulp (nerve area of the tooth) may be sensitive to hot and cold. With a little time, this usually goes away. If your sensitivity is getting worse, be sure to inform us.

If a filling is touching the opposing tooth prematurely, it makes it hurt when you chew on it. Call us for an adjustment to the height of the filling.
